SMTTF Preview Screening

Posted by owen - in Uncategorized - No Comments

Happy 2014! After months of collective hard work, the very first test screening of She Moved Through The Fair has taken place in Bristol!

The initial cut of the film was shown to a select audience of cast, crew, sponsors and supporters at the Watershed, in Bristol’s historic Floating Harbour. At this stage the film contained little music and no grading, sound or effects work; the purpose was to receive feedback on the plot and pacing.

The audience really engaged with the film, even at this early stage, and there was much discussion and swapping of interpretations during the drinks reception afterwards. The reception was hosted in Avery’s Wine Cellars, one of the film’s main sponsors, and took place in the same cellar as one of the film’s climactic locations.

All in all, it was a very successful evening, which we sincerely hope everybody enjoyed. We have had a lot of constructive feedback and responses to the initial cut, which we can take on board as we continue to polish and tighten the film. And of course, after all this time it was brilliant to finally watch the film on a big screen and present our work to an audience, albeit in an incomplete state.

Here’s to the next cut, and the final product being ready in April!

November Updates

Posted by owen - in Uncategorized - No Comments

Hello everyone,

The news this week is going to be rather repetitive: we’re still in post-production, the score is being composed, and we’re getting ever closer to a full first cut. This part of the process always takes months, so we’re still on schedule!

As work continues quietly but intensely on the project, it’s really uplifting to keep receiving support and words of encouragement from so many of you. Obviously this is a stage where much of the work takes place behind closed doors, and your patience is much appreciated! It makes it even more exciting to anticipate finally sharing it with you.

So, over the next few weeks until the New Year, you can expect to see all of the remaining photographs from the various sets uploaded to the Facebook page (click here to see them so far; you don’t need a Facebook account to view them!). In January, we’ll also be updating the WHERE section of the website, to show you the locations we used and how they appear in the film. And of course, besides more behind-the-scenes information, we will be unveiling a full-length trailer some time in the next month or two…

Filming in November

Posted by owen - in Uncategorized - No Comments

This weekend, several of the cast and crew – Owen, Jonny, Alice, Maddie and Rhian – reunited briefly to shoot some additional footage for a scene between Cass and Alice [the character]. We took advantage of the autumn weather, with its early sunset, moody dusk lighting and, best of all, some proper British rain! For the most part we were blessed with a lovely summer during the outdoor filming in August, but we needed some drizzle in there too.

Meanwhile, work on editing the first cut continues, with large sections of the film complete. Once this initial rough version is ready, we will be working on producing a full-length trailer, which will reveal a lot more about the film…

Post-Production

Posted by owen - in Uncategorized - No Comments

It’s well into October, and the film is well into post-production. After the arduous task of re-watching all of the footage – a process that takes several weeks due to the volume of takes, angles etc – Jonny has begun work on the first cut of the footage, with over 10 minutes completed so far. At this stage the score is also being composed, in tandem with the finished scenes.

It’s an exciting stage of the project, when all of the summer’s hard work starts to come together. If you haven’t already seen our teaser trailer, click here for a preview of some of the footage!

Wrapping Up

Posted by owen - in Uncategorized - No Comments

As we enter September, we’re close to wrapping up the majority of filming after an extremely busy couple of months. The whole team has worked incredibly hard and thrived despite the intense shooting schedule, and I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to everybody who has helped out to date, be it through volunteering on set, sponsorship, allowing us access to locations or performing administrative roles. It really could not be done without such dedicated collective effort.

As always, keep checking the Facebook page for photographic updates (you don’t need an account to view it). More news to follow soon, and hopefully a trailer by the end of the month!

Farewell to Émilie

Posted by owen - in Uncategorized - No Comments

It’s reaching the end of the summer, and we are close to wrapping up shooting for good! (As always, you can keep much more regularly updated with our progress on our Facebook page.) And today was our last day of filming with Émilie, who has now finished all of her scenes.

It’s a strange and quite sad experience when you get to this point in the process, and although filming isn’t over yet, it will feel odd not seeing Émilie on set every day. She has been relentlessly enthusiastic and constantly chirpy, despite everything that has been thrown at her and her character. We cannot wait to show you her wonderful performance as the enigmatic Dawn, a role she really has brought to life in her own unique way.

Of course, the good news from this is that we are close to the next stage of the project, and therefore a step closer to revealing the final film… And rest assured, you haven’t seen the last of Émilie! But for now, we wish her all the best and hope she can find time to relax after a very busy and productive couple of months on set.

We’re a couple of weeks into filming and so far it’s all on schedule, all gone according to plan and we’re all delighted with the footage we’ve shot! Almost too good to be true…

This page may seem quite quiet, but for regular updates you are strongly encouraged to visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/shemovedthroughthefair . We’re posting plenty of behind-the-scenes photos and news during shooting and beyond, and it’s a more dynamic way to engage with our followers. Production – Week #1

Posted by owen - in Uncategorized - No Comments

Well, it’s been an extremely busy and rewarding first week for all of us at SMTTF. We’ve been visiting locations for test shots, having script revisions and rehearsals, interviewing additional crew members, testing equipment, and generally sorting out lots of admin. And the first day of shooting is only a few days away!

Thank you to the continued support that we’ve been receiving to date. It’s great to see people getting involved, from sponsorship to voluntary work, and as we move into such a crucial stage of the process, I can’t tell you how much it’s appreciated.

Be sure to keep checking the social media for updates, we’ll be uploading photos and the like soon, and once we enter shooting there’ll be daily updates on what we’ve been doing!

A new cast member

Posted by owen - in Uncategorized - No Comments

Big news from us, with regards to the cast.

Unfortunately Kat has had to withdraw from the film project. She has been offered a role in the new West End musical ‘Once’ – we wish her all the very best with this incredible opportunity, and will be sure to keep you posted on what she’s up to.

All of us at SMTTF are thrilled to announce that the role of Alice will now be played by the brilliant Madeleine Leslay. Filming begins in July, and we will have plenty of regular updates coming soon as pre-production begins.

A warm welcome to Maddie, and we can’t wait to start work and show all of you the first stages of the film’s leap from script to screen! Check out the updated WHO page and find out more about our new cast member.
